Sadly, the SCCT has lost some very valuable support with the loss of Janet Yeates. Jan died on 22nd February 2012 but left behind an amazing legacy of courage, thoughtfulness, integrity and a sparkling sense of humour. Jan supported our Trust enormously and would have loved the thought of giving young carers, often housebound by caring demands, the chance of a day or so's holiday by the sea by way of a break. Sadly much of the UK Government support for these youngsters has been taken away due to the economic downturn. In conjunction with ACTA, Bristol we are trying to rectify this and give them their breaks. We might even be able to help those interested to learn to dive !! The first step is to raise sufficient funds to make all this happen. To this end, we have set up a Justgiving website http://www.justgiving.com/Young-Carers
. Please read and then donate generously to this webpage and allow us to get these 'relief visits' underway to the coasts of Devon. Dorset and maybe Cornwall where they can learn about and enjoy the fantastic biodiversity of the oceans. It would be even better if we could provide even more encouragement towards a marine-connected career for them !!
