In conjunction with the University of the West of England (UWE - Bower Ashton campus) and Falmouth University (Tremough campus), the SCCT is producing a 2-minute cartoon, aimed at the 6 - 12 year-olds to make them aware of the threat to them posed by progressive ocean acidificaion (OA). the project is being monitored by the Plymouth Marine Laboratory to ensure scientific 'robustness'. The cartoon output should be humorous and educational at the same time. The production should be complete towards the end of 2013.
If this effort is successful (more than 2 million website 'hits' should be possible !), more cartoons will follow. Needless to say, this will largely be determined by available funds. Please see: www.justgiving.com/ocean-acidification-cartoons
for a bit more detail.
Our children and grandchildren will all be affected by OA and this 'awareness-spreading and educational' cartoon is a first attempt to mitigate the effects of climate change and global warming and progressive ocean acidification.
